What we sell

Private road transport with a driver: airport and city transfers, and day transfers in Dalmatia and the surrounding region. Every booking is private: the vehicle is yours alone, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Prices

  • All prices are in euro and are fixed at the moment you book. We do not change the price afterwards.
  • The price includes the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls, parking and waiting time as described below.
  • Child seats are €5 each and are added to your total when you select them. We carry sizes for 0–1, 1–5 and 5–12 years, so tell us the ages and we bring the right ones.
  • National park entrance fees, tickets, food and drink are not included and are paid on site by you.
  • A return trip is two full journeys and is priced as such.

Paying

When the contract comes into being depends on how far ahead you book. If your pick-up is more than 24 hours away, your booking is confirmed the moment you submit it: the contract comes into being there and then, and the confirmation email we send records it. If your pick-up is less than 24 hours away, your booking is a request and not yet a contract. The contract then comes into being when we send you our confirmation, not when you submit the form and not when your card is checked, and until that confirmation reaches you, you owe us nothing and we owe you no journey.

More than 24 hours ahead we charge your card straight away; closer than that we only hold the amount. Card payments are handled by Stripe on Stripe’s own secure page. Your card number never reaches this website and we never see or store it. On a booking made more than 24 hours before pick-up the amount is taken as you book, because the journey is confirmed as you book it. On a booking made less than 24 hours before pick-up the amount is only reserved on your card, and we take it at the moment we confirm your ride. Either way, the confirmation we send you is your contract: it sets out the journey, the vehicle, the price and what you have paid, in a form you can keep.

If we cannot drive a journey we have not yet confirmed, the reservation is released and you are charged nothing. There is no refund to wait for and no fee, because no payment was ever taken. A request we have not answered within seven days lapses of its own accord and the reservation is released the same way. Where a journey was already confirmed and paid and we then have to cancel it, we refund it instead — see If we cannot perform the journey below.

Where an answer is needed at all, we aim to answer within two hours. That applies to bookings made less than 24 hours before pick-up, and a request that arrives late in the evening is answered the next morning. Bookings made further ahead need no answer, because they are confirmed as you make them. Bank transfer is available to companies and agencies against an invoice; cash to the driver is possible where it has been agreed with us by email beforehand.

Companies, hotels and agencies may pay by bank transfer against an invoice. Write to us and we will issue one.

Cash to the driver is possible as an exception, agreed with us by email before you book. It is not offered as a choice in the booking form.

Waiting time

One rate covers every situation, on every vehicle: €10 for each started 15 minutes.

  • Airport pick-ups. Please give us your flight number and landing time when you book. We track the flight and wait one hour from landing at no charge.
  • Ferry ports. The first 30 minutes run from when the boat actually docks, not from the time printed on the ticket. A late ferry is not your fault.
  • Everywhere else. The first 15 minutes are free. From the 15th to the 30th minute the waiting rate applies. After 30 minutes the driver may leave, and the journey then counts as missed, with nothing returned.
  • Extra stops. A stop you ask for along the way is charged at the waiting rate of €10 for each started 15 minutes, and is chosen and priced when you book, so it is in the amount you agree to rather than added afterwards.
  • Day transfers. The first 30 minutes over the agreed time at the destination are free, then the waiting rate applies. We cannot guarantee more than an hour over the agreed time, because another journey may follow on the same day.

Before leaving a pick-up the driver calls you and sends a message, and the departure is logged. Your vehicle is reserved for you alone for the agreed time, and another guest is waiting for it afterwards.

Your journey

  • Be ready at the agreed time. If you are not there, the driver will call and wait as described above.
  • If we are running late for traffic or a road closure, we will tell you by email as soon as we know. The price does not change.
  • Luggage. Each vehicle lists how many large cases and cabin bags it takes. It is the boot, not the number of seats, that decides how many people a vehicle really carries. Anything oversized, such as a surfboard, a bicycle or a wheelchair: please tell us when you book so we bring the right vehicle.
  • Old town centres. In Split, Trogir, Dubrovnik and other walled or pedestrianised centres a vehicle cannot reach every address. We will take you to the nearest accessible entrance and tell you in advance which one that is.

What a day transfer includes

A day transfer is transport: the drive to the destination, waiting there, and the drive back to where you started. Nothing else is included. Tickets, guides, food, drink, boats and similar are arranged and paid for by you.

If you would like a licensed guide, you book and pay the guide directly; it is not a service we arrange. Ask us and we will quote it.

The vehicle

We drive our own vehicle. Occasionally a job is covered by one of the licensed partners we work with. If that happens we will email you before the day, at the same price and with the same driver details.

If we cannot perform the journey

If a breakdown, an accident or another circumstance beyond our control prevents us from driving you and we cannot arrange a replacement vehicle, we refund what you paid, less the bank or card processing fee that we cannot recover.

Cancelling and changing

Cancel free up to 24 hours before pick-up and the whole amount comes back, less the card processing fee, which is charged on the full amount and is not refunded to us. Between 24 and 4 hours before pick-up, half comes back. Inside the last 4 hours nothing comes back, because the vehicle and the driver are assigned to your journey by then. Not turning up at the agreed place is not a cancellation and returns nothing. The full detail is in our cancellation policy.

Changes of date, time or address are free whenever we can accommodate them. Just write to us.

Because we carry you on a date agreed in advance, the usual consumer right to withdraw from a distance contract within fourteen days does not apply to this service. Croatian and EU consumer law excludes passenger transport provided on a specific date from that right. The cancellation terms above apply instead.

Complaints

If something goes wrong, write to info@tavitano.com with your booking reference. Under Croatian consumer law you may submit a written complaint and we will respond in writing within 15 days. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.

Liability

We carry the insurance required of a licensed passenger transport operator in Croatia. We are responsible for performing the journey you booked with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our control, such as extreme weather, road closures, border delays or force majeure. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory Croatian or EU consumer law.

Law

Croatian law applies, and the courts of the Republic of Croatia have jurisdiction.
